Manchester United star David De Gea has expressed his desire to become the best goalkeeper in the world at Old Trafford.
David De Gea has consistently performed in brilliant fashion despite Manchester United’s struggles in recent years and it would be fair to state that the Red Devils would have endured many embarrassing situations if it were not for the heroics of the Spanish international.
Due to his wonderful form, De Gea has consistently been linked with a move away from Old Trafford over the past few seasons and recent reports have claimed that Spanish and European champions Real Madrid have once again expressed their desire to sign the 26-year-old.
Considering the fact that De Gea has made no secret of his desire to return back to Madrid, United fans are certainly worried about the departure of their star custodian but in revelations which will come as music to the ears of the club faithful, the goalkeeper has stated that he wants to become the best while staying put at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future.
The Spaniard said, “I always want to be the best. I train hard to improve every day, in every training [session], so I work really hard to be the best keeper in the world. I don’t know who is the best at the moment but this is what I want – to be the best.
“All three keepers at United – Sergio [Romero], Joel [Pereira] and me – train really hard to be the player who is on the pitch to play in the games. Now I feel really strong, really confident. Everyone trains hard to be in the XI and that’s it.”
