Manchester United defender Daley Blind has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Fenerbahce ahead of the winter transfer window. The Netherlands international has been touted to pursue a fresh challenge elsewhere following a tough start to the 2017/18 season.
According to Turkish outlet Hurriyet h/t TalkSPORT, Fenerbahce are among the top clubs in the running to sign the versatile defender in the New Year.
Blind begun the campaign in a solid fashion as he was preferred ahead of Matteo Darmian for the left-back spot. The 27-year-old started in the victories over West Ham United, Swansea City and Leicester City in August, but he has since earned just a minute of Premier League action.
Jose Mourinho has preferred Ashley Young as the makeshift defender on the left side of the defence, and the 32-year-old has not disappointed with valuable assists against Basel and Southampton – in the Champions League and Premier League respectively.
Blind is currently contracted to United until the summer of 2019, and Mourinho could entertain the Dutchman’s exit, should one of Marcus Rojo or Luke Shaw become first-team regulars. The gaffer has recently urged Shaw to work harder in training to break into the starting lineup whilst Rojo is still recuperating from a serious knee injury sustained in April.
