Cristiano Ronaldo has been looking to leave Manchester United for a long time but with just over 48 hours remaining in the summer transfer window, he might end up staying.
As per today’s version of Corriere dello Sport (news image provided below), Jorge Mendes is trying his best to get Champions League football for the Portugal captain.
Transfer: Club willing to agree £85.4m fee plus more to sell striker to Manchester United
The veteran striker earns a salary of around 24 million euros per season and the Italian source claim that as per the contract at Man United, he would get a 25% wage cut as the club is not taking part in the Champions League.
Ronaldo does not want to lower his salary and also wants to play in Europe’s elite competition this term.
Mendes has offered the legendary superstar to Napoli in an exchange for Osimhen but the Serie A side want a mammoth fee of 130 million euros in cash to transfer the Nigerian international.
CdS claim that Ronaldo’s real desire is to agree a move to Chelsea and he is still pressing. However, Thomas Tuchel is resisting and does not want the 37-year-old at Stamford Bridge.
The £360,000 a week star (The Mail) clearly wants to leave and therefore, Erik ten Hag has mostly kept him on the bench.
In the current campaign, so far, Ronaldo has only started a single game in the Premier League (vs Brentford) and United lost the fixture 4-0.
Chelsea have already allowed strikers like Lukaku (loan) and Werner to leave the club this summer and have to adequately reinforce the strikeforce.
Will the Blues move in to sign Cristiano Ronaldo? We shall see. Time is against the Seleccao star, who may have to try to leave in the winter transfer window.
