Ruthless Van Gaal to give 2 fan favourites the boot from Old Trafford

Louis Van Gaal’s no nonsense approach to transfers has earned him a reputation as some what of an executioner at Old Trafford.

Last summer the manner in which he dispatched of Danny Welbeck raised eyebrows, and this summer he has ruthlessly shown Robin Van Persie, Nani and Tom Cleverley the door.

But the list of outgoings may be about to grow according to reports.

First to be shown the door is goalkeeper David De Gea, with Van Gaal asking the club to sanction a deal that would see him join Real Madrid.

Van Gaal believes that De Gea’s heart and head are no longer at Old Trafford and would rather the goalkeeper go. Both Marca and AS have highlighted that De Gea was left out of Manchester United’s launch of the new Adidas sponsored kit, although a number of United stars were also omitted from the promotion, largely non Adidas sponsored players.

Van Gaal’s request isn’t likely to go down well, with United hoping to make a stand against Real Madrid having sold bigger players to the Spanish club in the past. United had requested that Ramos be part of the deal but Real declaring the 29 year old not for sale, losing De Gea too would prove a blow.

Following De Gea out of the door is Rafael, with a move to Lyon being touted by L’Equipe.

The Brazilian has been a mainstay (when injury permits) in United’s team but it appears Van Gaal isn’t a fan and last season saw his place taken by Antonio Valencia.

With United signing Matteo Darmian this summer, his place as number 1 right back at Old Trafford has been taken. It was reported that he had been told to find a new club after he was left out of United’s squad for pre season and it appears a move to Lyon is now on the cards.

It is bring reported that the defender will undergo a medical on Monday ahead of a €3m, 4 year move to France.

Rafael is well liked by fans at the club, so whilst his benching last season raised questions his sale will like cause ire.
