Ryan Giggs is pleased with this Star — Player Already has Four Assists

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs is impressed by the performance of Henrikh Mkhitaryan during the early stages of the Premier League season. The Armenia international had a tough first season at Old Trafford where he struggled to adapt to the pace of the English game.

However, he has started his second year in full flight with four assists from the opening two games, having managed just one – against this weekend’s opponents Leicester City – last term. Speaking on Sky Sports, Giggs was full of praise for the Armenian attacker, who he believes is approaching his old form at Borussia Dortmund.

“They look powerful with Nemanja Matic and Romelu Lukaku, but what is pleasing to see is the creative players doing well as well,” he told Sky Sports News.“Henrikh Mkhitaryan already has four assists and that will do him the world of good, so hopefully he can get back to his Dortmund form.”

“There’s a lot of players contributing to goals which is crucial to winning the league. Juan Mata scores year-in-year-out, Anthony Martial chipping in and when Marcus Rashford and Mkhitaryan join the party you’ve got options.”

Mkhitaryan became an influential figure in United setup during the festive period last term, but his form was patchy with just four goals and an assist in the Premier League. With the new season, Mkhitaryan has looked like his old self at BvB, and the 28-year-old will have a key role to play through the campaign as United aim to compete across all four fronts.

Manchester United have clinched successive 4-0 victories over West Ham United and Swansea City in the opening two league games, and we could potentially have another high scorer this Saturday with Leicester City likely to provide more possession with their counter-attacking style of football.
