Manchester United will seek to gain the away-goal advantage when they make the trip to Spain to take on Sevilla on Wednesday night. The Red Devils have overseen three of their English rivals pick strong results on the road, and Jose Mourinho would demand a similar showing from his squad, which could be depleted by a few unwanted injuries.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Lineup:
David de Gea was offered a much-needed rest during the FA Cup win over Huddersfield Town last weekend, but he is expected to return between the sticks ahead of Sergio Romero. The Argentine had previously started in the final two group stage games.
Antonio Valencia is likely to return at right-back after a minor injury, and he could be accompanied by Ashley Young in the opposite direction, with Mourinho tending to go with the Englishman’s experience in the big games this term.
In central defence, Chris Smalling appears set to make his seventh straight Champions League start for the Red Devils and he could be partnered with the returning Eric Bailly, who may not feature for the entire 90 minutes.
Nemanja Matic has been the preferred choice for Mourinho in any midfield combination, and the Serb is likely to make the lineup alongside Paul Pogba, who is expected to return after recovering from an illness, which saw him absent for the Cup game.
Further forward, Alexis Sanchez and Juan Mata have earned their positions after providing key assists during the Huddersfield triumph, and the pair could slot into the left and right side of the attack – with Jesse Lingard possibly getting the nod in the number 10 role.
Romelu Lukaku bagged his 20th and 21st goals of the campaign during the FA Cup win over Huddersfield, and he is expected to start versus the Andalusian outfit, having netted on four occasions during the group phase.
I hope you are wrong. That is exactly the formation that cannot control a game or keep possession and lost to Newcastle
I expect martial in this game.
The lineup looks great but, they should step up their games for us to win the match.
The player have to be blamed if we get anything less than a win in Spain.
