Man Utd’s £75,000-a-week player linked with ‘two big clubs’ — Player contract end is near

Manchester United defender Daley Blind could be the subject of transfer interest from both Inter Milan and Barcelona during the winter transfer window. The Netherlands international has not made a Premier League appearance for United since September, and he is now regarded as the third-choice left-back behind Ashley Young and Luke Shaw.

According to Calciomercato, Barcelona are looking at the prospect of signing the former Ajax man with Javier Mascherano having reached an agreement to join Hebei China Fortune at the turn of the year.

The Catalan giants are presently closing in on the signing of Palmeiras’ Yerry Mina, but they are nevertheless interested in Blind, who they tried to pursue prior to his move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2014.

However, Ernesto Valverde’s side could potentially face competition from Inter Milan, who are presently with just three senior centre-backs in their ranks. The Nerazzurri are fighting for the Serie A crown for the first time in many seasons, and Blind has been earmarked as a potential option to bolster their backline.

£75,000-a-week player has shown his versatility at United, playing at left-back, centre-back and defensive midfield, but his future remains a topic of speculation with the club yet to activate a 12-month extension clause to prolong his stay beyond next summer.

With Eric Bailly sidelined for the long-term with an ankle injury, Mourinho could do with the services of Blind, who can slot into the central defensive role, but there remains the option of accepting a cut-price fee for his services next month.
