Serie A giants hold talks with Manchester United forward’s representative

Martial MUFC

The representative of Anthony Martial is reported to have held a meeting with Juventus ahead of a potential move during the summer transfer window.

Martial, 22, has become a fan favourite at Old Trafford over the past two-and-a-half seasons, but the speculation over his future does not seem to cease with his contract expiring in 15 months’ time.

According to Premium Sport, one of Martial’s agents is said to have met with Pavel Nedved, who happens to be the vice-chairman of the Bianconeri.

The report adds that the Frenchman’s future was the topic of discussion with United deemed to have placed a £57m price tag for his potential sale during the summer.

Martial has undoubtedly returned to his old self during the course of the current season, but he has of late, found himself on the bench with Alexis Sanchez commanding one of the wider positions.

Typically, one of Marcus Rashford or Martial have been picked in the starting lineup under Mourinho, and the departure of the Frenchman could favour the progress of the former.

Nevertheless, competition for places is always a positive in any world-class team, and United need to sort out a new deal with the attacker before the close of the season.

United have the option of triggering a 12-month extension clause on Martial’s deal, but he appears keen on a significant wage hike after the vast improvement shown under the manager this term.
