Lately, Manchester United have been rock solid at the back but reports continue to link them with central defenders. Once again, the name of Nikola Milenkovic is in the line light.
According to a report recently covered by Calcio Mercato, Man Utd are serious about signing the Serbian international, who is a concrete target at Old Trafford. The Italian outlet have reported that Fiorentina’s asking price for their prized asset is 35 million euros (£30million).
Transfer: Man United prepared to push to finally sign £128million star – Report
The 23-year-old will be out of contract next year and the Viola have so far failed to agree a new deal with him.
According to La Repubblica, the player has decided the he will not renew his contract with the Florence based side, who would prefer to sell him in the summer.
The renowned source have mentioned that the player has many offers on the table but the one from the Old Trafford club is the most impressive. Moreover, it is stated that Man Utd could make an offer of 35 million euros (£30million) to seal his signing in the next transfer window.
Milenkovic has made over 100 appearances for the Viola and has impressed overall but this term, his performances have been average and same is the case with the entire squad.
In 25 Serie A appearances so far, the former Partizan star has only helped the team keep 6 clean sheets (conceded 38 goals). For the senior national side, he has so far made 26 appearances.
United have been inconsistent at the back over the years and if they are really thinking about signing a central defender then they must sign someone who has proven to be consistently brilliant at the top level. In your view, who should Man Utd lure to strengthen the squad?
