Manchester United will seek to return to winning ways when they host Huddersfield Town in the Premier League on Saturday. United produced an underwhelming performance in the 2-0 defeat to Spurs in midweek, and Jose Mourinho will expect a much better showing versus the Terriers, who inflicted the Red Devils’ first loss of the season back in October.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Lineup:
David de Gea could not do much with either goal United conceded, and he will be determined to keep a clean sheet against Huddersfield Town. The Spain international has acquired 14 shut-outs in 25 Premier League matches this term.
In central defence, Mourinho could be tempted to bench one of Phil Jones or Chris Smalling, and we are fancying the latter to be replaced by Marcos Rojo. At right-back, Antonio Valencia have earned his position after a decent performance versus Spurs, but Ashley Young should drop to the bench to compensate for Luke Shaw at left-back.
In midfield, Paul Pogba should retain his position despite a below-par performance versus Spurs, and Nemanja Matic will be expected to slot into the other central role, having been ever-present through the Premier League campaign.
Further forward, Anthony Martial should be slotted into his preferred left-wing position with Alexis Sanchez on the right whilst we are fancying Juan Mata to start in the attacking midfield role. The Spaniard has impressed with his link-up play with Sanchez in a short while, and the pair may as well as swap positions during the game.
Romelu Lukaku failed to find the scoresheet in yet another major fixture for United, but he is highly unlikely to be dropped. The Belgian will look to improve on his 17-goal tally for the season versus Huddersfield, who are presently in a free-fall.
