Sky Sport correspondent Dharmesh Sheth has revealed that Manchester United will have to cough up the entire £48m demanded by Inter Milan in order to sign Ivan Perisic this summer.

The Croatia international has been underlined as the Red Devils’ main target for the transfer window, but they have not yet managed to reach an agreement with the Nerazzurri.

Appearing on Sky Sports News on Friday, Sheth revealed that the Red Devils will have to up their price to at least £48m to do business with their Serie A counterparts.

He said h/t The Star: “Talking of Manchester United and their hopes of signing Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan. Have they improved? Well Inter coach Luciano Spalletti wants the player to remain but gave an indication Perisic wants to move to Old Trafford.

“Spalletti is quoted as saying ‘we want him to stay but we have to consider the opinion of the club’ and listen to this ‘and the player. It’s thought an offer of around £48m would tempt Inter Milan to sell Perisic to Manchester United.”

United have had an opening bid worth £26m turned done by the Nerazzurri, and they are expected to come up with a renewed offer with Jose Mourinho eager to add a versatile winger to his ranks.

Apart from Perisic, Jose Mourinho is also keen on adding a central midfielder to his squad with Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic still the favourite to make the switch to Old Trafford this summer.

Manchester United have made meaningful business in the transfer window with the signings of Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof but Mourinho is keen to strengthen his squad further ahead of the club’s return to the Champions League.
