Predictions: 3 Big Transfers, Updates on Toni Kroos’ Potential Move to Man United — Guillem Balague

Toni Kroos

Sky Sports Pundit Guillem Balague has claimed that Real Madrid are unlikely to sanction the sale of Toni Kroos to Manchester United in the near future. The Germany international joined Los Blancos from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2014, and he has since lifted two Champions League titles and the La Liga crown.

Recent reports suggested that United could get their hands on Kroos with Los Blancos aiming to utilise the funds received to make a surprise move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Neymar. However, Spanish transfer expert, Balague has dismissed the speculation citing that the European champions would be more inclined to offload the likes of Karim Benzema to recoup fees.

He told Sky Sports: “There are going to be changes at Real Madrid in the summer, big changes. I have got the impression [Karim] Benzema will be sold, and Real Madrid will try to get [Thibaut] Courtois and [Eden] Hazard.

“But I do not see the possibility of Kroos leaving right now, as something Real Madrid are considering. He is one of their top players. First of all why would he want to go to Man United, and secondly, why would Real want to get rid of him?”

Kroos was previously on United’s radar during the David Moyes’ reign in 2013, but unfortunately a deal could not quite materialise. The midfielder has since grown strength to strength, and his intrinsic passing and long-range shooting capabilities make him an imminent threat, while pushing forward in the opposition ranks.

£90m has previously been quoted as the valuation for the World Cup winner, and it will be interesting to see whether United do lodge an offer for his services at the end of the campaign. Jose Mourinho will nevertheless have to offload some of the club’s out-of-favour players including Henrikh Mkhitaryan in order to lodge an approach.
