Spanish giants have Marcus Rashford on four-man striker shortlist

Real Madrid have reportedly added Marcus Rashford to their shortlist as they look to recruit a new striker to their ranks this summer. The European champions offloaded Alvaro Morata to Chelsea earlier in the week, and this has left a void to fill ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

Rashford has enjoyed a tremendous rise to the United first-team over the past 17 months, and he is now one of the first names on Jose Mourinho’s teamsheet after having played him the most than any other outfield player last term.

The England international has also found his feet during the club’s pre-season tour of the United States, and it looks highly improbable that Mourinho would consider his sale, given his potential to progress into a world-class forward.

Both United and Real Madrid have had a strained relationship since De Gea’s failed move in the summer of 2015, and this hindered the Red Devils’ quest to sign Alvaro Morata, who was allowed to join Chelsea instead.

With this in mind, Los Blancos may have to shift their attention to their remaining targets for the summer with United unlikely to listen to offers for their young forward in the transfer window.

The La Liga giants also have Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ajax’s Kasper Dolberg and RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner on their wishlist with the signing of a new marksman being a priority.

Rashford has bagged 19 goals in 71 outings for Manchester United since making his debut against FC Midtjylland in February 2016, where he notched a brace in the injury absence of Anthony Martial.
