Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial has admitted that manager Jose Mourinho is harsh in his treatment of the players.

Jose Mourinho has enjoyed a wonderfully successful managerial career so far, having won numerous trophies for the likes of Porto, Inter Milan, Chelsea and Real Madrid, and the Portuguese tactician is currently doing a fairly good job at Manchester United as well.

One of the main reasons behind Mourinho’s success has been his strong relationship with most of his players and while critics might have negative things to say about the 54-year-old, not many of his ex-stars tend do so.

Now Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial has gone on to speak about the relationship between the Red Devils’ squad and Mourinho, and the Frenchman has revealed that despite enjoying a strong bond – the ex-Chelsea boss does dish out some tough love at Old Trafford.

“He’s hard with all of us and he is hard with me, there is no question,” he told the Premier League website. “But I know that it’s for my benefit. I also know that he really likes me as a person, so there’s no issue about the discipline being for the wrong reasons.

“But the objective, of course, is to have all of us in good condition, and being fit to play every match and that is what I’m hoping to do.

“At the beginning we didn’t know each other too well, but over time we have got to know each other better. He knows my strengths and my weaknesses, such as they are, but the outcome is that we are learning to give everything in the right way.”
