Manchester United were under the pump during the international break with Erik ten Hag struggling to get his team off to a good start to the season. The Liverpool cherry on top of the cake just before the break did not help anyone’s cause.
However, things have settled down at Old Trafford following the team’s win over Southampton in the Premier League last weekend and subsequently, their 7-0 trashing of League One side, Barnsley, in the Carabao Cup.
Transfer – After £42.6m offer, Man Utd willing to finally sign midfielder – Report
Erik ten Hag will come into this Crystal Palace game in a more relaxed manner but will also know the need to keep the results coming. So, how could the Dutch coach set his team up against the Eagles in the Premier League?
Ten Hag named a rotated starting XI against Barnsley midweek but the stars are expected to return for the Palace game. The Dutch coach has confirmed that both Rasmus Hojlund and Mason Mount are fit but unlikely to be able to start this game.
Man Utd are expected to make eight changes to the team that started midweek with only Diogo Dalot, Casemiro and Marcus Rashford expected to retain their places.
Man Utd predicted XI to face Crystal Palace
Andre Onana will come back into the XI in place of Altay Bayindir. Noussair Mazraoui will start from the right.
Matthijs de Ligt will be hoping to build on his good performance against Southampton. Lisandro Martinez is likely to partner with him at center-back with Diogo Dalot shifting out to the left.
The base of the midfield is likely to be manned by Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo. Manuel Ugarte might not be ready yet to start two successive games at such a short interval while Christian Eriksen needs some rest after continuous starts.
Bruno Fernandes will undoubtedly start as the #10. He is likely to be flanked by Marcus Rashford from the left and Amad Diallo from the right. The #9 role will be taken up by Joshua Zirkzee although he will now have competition in the form of Hojlund going forward.
Man Utd will hope to continue their winning run and make it three across all competitions against Palace. Only time will tell us how it pans out.
