Talented 23-year-old dismisses talks of Manchester United return

Bruma to replace Depay?

Memphis Depay has shot down rumors linking him with a return back to Manchester United by stating that he is fully committed to Lyon.

Manchester United splashed £25million to acquire the services of Memphis Depay in the summer of 2015 and considering his exploits for PSV in the prior campaign, many fans were understandably excited to see what impact the Dutchman would have at Old Trafford.

Unfortunately though, the Netherlands international struggled to make any sort of impact whatsoever at United – with many questioning his attitude and he was duly offloaded to Lyon by Jose Mourinho in the January transfer window last season.

Since moving to Lyon though, Depay has managed to recapture his best form after scoring five goals and providing 8 assists in 17 appearances in Ligue 1 and such form has led to talks of the 23-year-old making a return back to Old Trafford this summer, with United having the option of activating a buyback clause.

To quash any talk of such a transfer though, the winger has categorically stated that he will be staying put at Lyon this summer and added that he is not even thinking about an exit from the French side.

Depay said, “No, to be honest. It’s not in my thoughts. I’m very focused on Lyon, and I’m very happy about my choice, and I don’t think of anything else other than to do the best for this team.”
