Manchester United opted to use Kobbie Mainoo, a natural midfielder, in the No.9 / False No.9 role against Palace and the decision backfired as Amorim’s men once again fired a blank and lost at Old Trafford.

Man Utd need to improve the strike-force before the closure of the winter window tonight and the name of Mathys Tel is heavily linked.

News – Man Utd in talks to secure last-minute deal to sign £70million star – Report

As per today’s version of Bild (news image provided below), Bayern Munich might end up stuck with the young French starlet. Sports director Christoph Freund said:

“We’ll see what happens in the next one or two days. If Mathys stays at Bayern, that’s good. If something else comes up, we’ll have to think about it together with him. We’re not currently in talks with anyone, with any club, not from England or anywhere else.”

The Bavarians agreed a £50million (60 million euros) fee to sell the forward to Tottenham Hotspur, however, Tel ‘doesn’t want to go to Tottenham, but to Man Utd’.

The renowned German media outlet have mentioned that so far, the record English champions ‘do not want to pay’ the required fee.

Freund added:

“When such sums are involved, you can’t ignore it because there is an economic factor for the club. One thing is clear: If no offer comes in by now that convinces the club and especially the player, Bayern, who are willing to sell, could actually be left with Tel.”

Man Utd loaned out Antony to Betis and the Brazilian international took fourteen minutes to register his first assist for the new club. On the other hand, Rashford completed his loan move to Aston Villa yesterday.

So United now need to improve the offense before the window closes. With Hojlund and Zirkzee not firing, Amorim had to use Mainoo in the forward’s role and even that did not work.

The question is, should Man Utd consider Tel, who is yet to find the net in 14 appearances this term, as the solution?
