Ten Hag backed by Man Utd to sign £75million star – Report

Erik ten Hag - Manchester United manager

Manchester United have been linked with top-quality midfielders and the latest name in the limelight is that of James Ward-Prowse.

According to an exclusive story covered by The Sun, Erik ten Hag wants the Southampton man to boss the midfield at Old Trafford in the next campaign.

Transfer: Man Utd make highest offer, £67million, for signing – Report

The renowned British news source have mentioned that the Dutch manager has made a transfer wishlist and has been backed by Man Utd to move for the 27-year-old midfielder.

Ward-Prowse is being eyed as a cheaper alternative to Declan Rice and the Saints man could cost around £75million.

The 10-capped England star has been in brilliant form for Southampton in the current campaign. So far, in all competitions, he has featured in 38 games under Ralph Hasenhuttl and directly contributed in 18 goals (10 goals and 8 assists).

The Sun claim that Man City boss Pep Guardiola liked the midfielder as well. However, it must be remembered that James’ footballing hero is none other than Man Utd legend David Beckham (BBC).

Like Beckham, Ward-Prowse is a specialist striker of the ball from dead-ball situations. Becks holds the record of scoring 18-free kick goals in the Premier League. Ward-Prowse has already scored 14 and will likely break that record.

Man Utd lack creativity in the center of the park and they need someone, who can create and score goals on a regular basis.

In your view, should Ten Hag splash £75million to sign the Three Lions midfielder?
