Man Utd to seal £18million signing today – Report

Alex Telles Porto Left Back

Manchester United were humiliated by former boss Jose Mourinho in the Premier League yesterday as Spurs scored 6 against the Red Devils in their own back-yard.

The Old Trafford outfit were terrible at the back and once again Luke Shaw was one of the worst players on the field. If reports in the media are anything to go by then United are close to signing a new left back.

Transfer: Man Utd have agreed £20.8million terms, signing to be sealed before deadline – Report

According to talkSPORT, Man Utd and Porto have finally agreed a fee worth £18million in order to secure the transfer of Alex Telles, who will seal his move before today’s deadline.

On the other hand, as per Goal, the Brazilian international has agreed terms of a four year contract in principle with an option to extend for a further year.

Telles is a proven quality left back who is brilliant in the attacking third as well. Last season, he directly contributed in 25 goals for the Primeira Liga giants.

As far as the current campaign is concerned, the 27-year-old star has thus far featured in 3 games for the reigning Portuguese champions, scored 2 goals and provided as many assists.

At the weekend, Telles played for full 90 minutes vs Maritimo and that was probably his last game for the Liga Nos side as he closes in on joining Manchester United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have already conceded 11 goals in the Premier League this term in only three fixtures and they must reinforce things at the back or else prepare for more humiliation.

Luke Shaw joined the club more than 6 years ago and he has never been a top quality fullback for the Red Devils. On and off, the England international has spent time on the treatment table and this season, his performances have been terrible in all honesty.

Would Alex Telles prove to be a hit at Old Trafford? Only time will tell.

  1. Manchester united really need to sign some players before deadline day so that they can maintain their integrity if not football is more than a play this time around.unitedforlife.

  2. Every man utd fan would have been depressed and downcast at the result in Old Trafford. In spite of repeated reminders about two defense line players, Luke Shaw and center backs, I don’t know is it to blame Ole or the player. I don’t think I would blame OLE, for every manager would have come from some level. But one thing about OLE is that he was a player too. Knowing the weakness of the team, he had asked for new players in certain positions such as a winger striker, center back etc. Woodhead is truly a wooden head, for he cannot understand football he knows only money for he was a banker. Now at least woodhead should make arrangements to get the key positions filled.

  3. Woodward is just self fish and heartless, how can a C.E.O fail to sign 13 top targets. Woodward should help ole and the fans this hours left by landing sancho, traore and zaha. They are better than cavani and dembele.
