Manchester United supporters revealed their displeasure after Henrikh Mkhitaryan failed to show up in the 1-0 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday evening. The Armenia international has struggled to find form since early October, but Mourinho still opted to play him ahead of Jesse Lingard in the number 10 role.
Mkhitaryan struggled to create any opportunities for the front partnership of Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku, and his performance was largely underwhelming before he was substituted after the hour mark.
Here are the best tweets about Mkhitaryan’s performance…
Mkhitaryan is there to destroy our attacks….. Secretly working with the enemy

We are playing with 9 outfield players. Mkhitaryan is just a spectator running around with players.

Mkhitaryan is so poor with the ball it's irritating.

I just don’t get how Henrikh Mkhitaryan avoids any criticism from José Mourinho. It’s time for him to be dropped. Nowhere near good enough.

Mkhitaryan has been invisible all season, his assists have been covering up his performances. He is stalling the attack and no creativity.

Pogba’s return will help the creativity issues, particularly with Mkhitaryan however the fact that we’re so reliant on him is crazy.

Mkhitaryan’s form has been on a decline since his early flurry of assists, and it is still surprising that Mourinho has stuck with the Armenian. With the international break coming up, the team will have time to recollect their thoughts following a poor run which sees them eight points adrift of leaders Manchester City.
Injuries have hampered United’s progress over the past month, but Mourinho will hope for a change of fortunes after the break with Paul Pogba in line to make a comeback. The Frenchman was 50/50 to make the Chelsea game after recovering from his hamstring injury, and the gaffer could at least pick him for the matchday squad in the next outing against Newcastle United.
