Netherlands international Timothy Fosu-Mensah is keen to make a mark with Manchester United next season following a year-loan loan spell with Crystal Palace, where he made 21 appearances in the Premier League.
Fosu-Mensah has always been highly-rated among the club’s supporters but he has yet to convince Jose Mourinho of his abilities with the Portuguese recently sanctioning a deal for Diogo Dalot.
Regardless of this, the 20-year-old believes he is ready to face the best in the top competitions and does not feel age should be taken into account when speaking about his club ambitions.
He told FunX: “I do not want to hear that I am young and that my time is still coming, I want to reach the top as quickly as possible, that’s me. The top is World Cup, European Championship, Champions League final, which is the top for me, winning prizes.”
With Dalot at the club, Fosu-Mensah’s chances at right-back may be diminished further but he has the opportunity to prove his credentials during the club’s pre-season tour of the United States.
During his time at Palace, Fosu-Mensah also plyed his trade at the heart of the backline but this is certainly not a position where he may enjoy gametime with the vast competition for places.
