United off the Pitch: Giggs Fitness DVD

This will seem a bit of an irregular post here on TF but as we’re all thoroughly fed up of the international break I thought I’d provide a bit of a fill-in. There was no doubt that I was not going to buy Giggs Fitness: Strength & Conditioning, Inspired by Yoga DVD when it came out. I’d even chosen to pre-order it. A Giggs obsession? YES.

It has been well talked about that Giggs has benefitted heavily from his yoga workouts especially on those troublesome hamstring injuries that he used to have in his younger years. Now at the age of 37 he’s not showing any signs of stopping and I for one was a very relieved fan when he signed a new deal keeping him at United until next Summer. I’m not prepared to say goodbye. I’m not sure I ever will be.

Anyway to the DVD – fitness DVD’s now fill the shelves especially those including celebrities. I admit I was surprised that Giggs had decided to release the DVD, I’m not really sure why as I was really pleased that he did obviously.

The DVD is inspired by Yoga but it is not a Yoga DVD. This DVD will work you hard!

In January I had knee surgery so at first I could only watch the DVD as I was on bedrest. Yes that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it 🙂 Eventually I got round to actually having a go, it did pay off to have watched it a lot of a few times before as it is not so easy to follow on the first go. I did find there were moments of pure jealousy when his yoga coach Sarah (not me!) helped him into certain positions – I want her job!

The section I found the most challenging was the Core section. Ouch! The content overall is fantastic for staring at Ryan getting into shape. But it’s certainly a challenge for people of all yoga abilities.  I used to get a lot of hamstring injuries and yes it might have something to do with my surgery but I think this DVD has helped also as they don’t seem as tight as they used to be. So I make sure I get my weekly fix of Ryan and it’s the best “celebrity” DVD I’ve tried… but I might be slightly biased!

For more information see giggsfitness.com.

Sarah’s Disclaimer – I did not get paid to write nice things about the DVD but I wanted to share my thoughts on staring watching the DVD which I bought with my own money! If you do want me to send me things; cupcakes and shoes please and of course Ryan would be nice 😉 Thank you!
