Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has confirmed winger Angel di Maria has been training this week and will be fit to face Chelsea on Sunday.
The Argentinian limped off in Monday’s 2-2 Premier League draw at West Brom causing doubt on his availability for the visit of Jose Mourinho’s league-leading side.
But Van Gaal revealed on Friday that the club’s record-signing has been training since Thursday in preparation for the clash at Old Trafford this weekend and could be joined by Ander Herrera, who has also been confirmed that he is fit to play.
“Ander was already fit for the last game and, with Di Maria, I said after the match that normally it [the injury] should not be so heavy and it’s not heavy,” stated van Gaal at the pre-match press conference at the Aon Training Complex.
No other players are returning from injury for United but midfielder Michael Carrick will play for the reserves against his former club West Ham on Friday evening after five months out.
