Time appears to be running out for United’s record signing- after less than a full season in the Premier League Angel Di Maria looks set to be offloaded to Paris Saint-Germain in a swap deal involving Edison Cavani.
The Express notes:
Paris Saint-Germain are understood to have bid £40m for Di Maria and United in turn have asked about Cavani.
United have told PSG they value Di Maria at £50m but would be happy with a straight swap for Uruguay striker Cavani.
Although manager Louis van Gaal is reluctant to sell Di Maria – who he bought for a British record (ransfer fee of £59.7m 11 months ago – he will sanction a move if the player tells him he wants to go and he can land Cavani in return.
PSG bosses have held provisional talks with Di Maria’s representatives and are willing to meet his wage demands of £200,000 a week.
It makes sense for United to try and cash in on Di Maria who seems to have lost any semblance of willingness or confidence of late and a player of Cavani’s caliber would be an attractive swap. As we saw last season with Radamel Falcao even the top level strikers can struggle in the Premier League and Louis Van Gaal needs to be careful he doesn’t end up swapping one under-firing star for another.
rubbish!!!
