Manchester United will allow Angel Di Maria to leave Old Trafford this summer, but only if he submits a transfer request reports The Daily Telegraph.
Di Maria has struggled since moving to Manchester United last summer for £59.7m, and despite getting off to a bright start faded badly as injuries and poor form saw him become a bit part player in manager Louis Van Gaal’s side.
Van Gaal has reportedly told the 27 year old that he will play a more influential part in his plans next season but when asked about Di Maria on United’s pre season tour of America, the Dutch manager replied:
“We shall see. In football, it is a process. It’s a process for Di Maria and Man Utd. We shall see.
“But he is still a member of United and he said he will come out on July 25.”
PSG are reportedly looking to take advantage of the Di Maria’s situation with a paltry £40m bid, likely to be rejected as United paid almost £20m more just last summer but this doesn’t mean United aren’t open to the idea of selling the winger.
Mark Ogden of The Telegraph writes:
Angel di Maria will have to ask to leave Manchester United this summer if the unsettled £59.7 million British record signing is to secure a move away from Old Trafford.
United fans will be unhappy to lose Di Maria who, despite his poor showings last term, they still believe has much to offer at Old Trafford.
