Usain Bolt: Manchester United are favourites to win the Premier League

Eight-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt believes Jose Mourinho’s are favourites to lift the Premier League crown this season. The self-confessed Manchester United fan was recently spotted at Old Trafford during the Red Devils’ 2-0 triumph over Leicester City.

United have made a strong start to the new season with three victories in their first three outings, and Bolt believes that the club could go all the way, should they maintain their form in the next few games, he said h/t Sky Sports: “I personally think so. We’re looking pretty good, the players are playing with confidence, which is always a key thing. Yeah, I saw the games, I was very impressed with them over the past three games. But, for me, I’m waiting until the next four games to say, ‘all right, we’re on track to winning the title’. But so far we do look good.”

Mourinho guided United to an EFL Cup and Europa League double during the previous campaign and the signings of Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja and Victor Lindelof have significantly bolstered the squad.

Despite this, Bolt thinks the current group of players may not be strong enough to push for the Champions League title, though Zlatan Ibrahimovic could play a part on his return from full fitness, he added: “The Champions League is going to be hard. I think we’re missing a few vital – I think we need, maybe, one more striker. Maybe one more midfielder- not midfielder – a stronger defence and then we’ll be fine. So one striker, one defender and we’ll be strengthened.”

Manchester United restart the season after the international break with an away trip to face Mark Hughes’ Stoke City on Saturday. From there, they face another six games with the Champions League and EFL Cup making it a hectic schedule.
