Manchester United return to Premier League action against Stoke City in Monday night’s clash at Old Trafford. The Red Devils claimed a hard-fought 2-0 win over Derby County in the FA Cup third round last weekend, and the focus will now lie on maintaining the second position in the league standings.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Lineup:
David de Gea has been ever-present in goal for the Red Devils, and the Spaniard will once more feature between the sticks.
Antonio Valencia has made his recovery from a hamstring problem, and he will slot into the right-back spot with Luke Shaw keeping his place on the left side of the defence, where Ashley Young will miss out through suspension.
Phil Jones is pretty much assured of his spot in central defence as he is undoubtedly the best option at hand, and Mourinho could go with Marcos Rojo as his partner on the night.
In midfield, Mourinho could revert a two-man partnership versus Stoke City, and this will probably see Ander Herrera return to the bench to facilitate Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic to start from the off.
Further forward, Jesse Lingard has been a game-changer in recent months, and he is likely to keep the number 10 position with Juan Mata on the right-flank. Anthony Martial has got the headstart over Marcus Rashford on the left-wing and it is likely to be the case versus Stoke after his impressive opener versus Everton.
Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku is certain to lead the line for the Mancunian giants, and he will be aiming to improve on his already impressive tally of 16 goals across all competitions.
