Manchester United are experiencing a trying time this season so far under Erik ten Hag. The Dutch coach has not managed to get his team up and running despite a solid pre-season and they have managed just three wins so far.

Even their victories came against Fulham, Barnsley and Southampton and that doesn’t inspire much confidence. Ten Hag looks clueless on how to turn the situation around and it might not be long before he is shown the door.

News – Man Utd prepare to advance to sign £41.8m star – He “moves incredibly well.”

If the Red Devils decide to let go of Ten Hag midseason, replacing him with a top manager might not be a straightforward task.

Instead, Man Utd could choose to look internally, with Football Insider claiming that Ruud van Nistelrooy, who joined the club in the summer, is an ideal candidate to replace the Dutchman.

The 48-year-old Dutchman is the assistant manager of the Red Devils currently and he is ready to move the step up into the managerial hot seat should the opportunity come knocking.

It is worth noting that in his last job with PSV, he had a 64.7% win record.

Give Me Sport have also backed these claims, revealing that Van Nistelrooy is viewed as the best candidate to replace his compatriot at Man Utd. The Old Trafford legend understands the club and might have an opportunity to impress.

Until now, the Man United hierarchy have been very patient with Erik ten Hag. They are giving him ample time to turn the situation around but the Dutch coach, with every game, is closer to burning the candle at both ends.

Unless something drastically changes post the international break, it is only a matter of when rather than if Erik ten Hag will be let go. Let’s wait and see how things go in the upcoming months.
