Manchester United supporters hailed the impact of Anthony Martial after netted the key winner in the 1-0 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. The victory sees United keep pace with arch-rivals Manchester City, who are five points ahead – at the top of the Premier League.
Jose Mourinho chose to go with two up front against Spurs with Marcus Rashford getting the opportunity to partner Romelu Lukaku. Rashford was probably the pick of the attackers in the 3-5-2 formation, but the gaffer made a crucial decision to replace him with Martial, which paid dividends.
United pushed for the victory in the second-half with Lukaku hitting the post, and ultimately the Belgian provided the decisive flick which allowed Martial to become the Old Trafford hero. Martial has witnessed mixed performances from the starting lineup of late, but the Frenchman managed to come up with the perfect response with his fourth goal from the bench this term.
Here are the best tweets after Martial’s showing…
This is why Mourinho never starts Martial despite you lot moaning every game. He makes a world class supersub and the gaffer knows it.

Need a pic of Lloris, the Spurs defender on the floor after Martial's goal. Typical Martial goal, always leaving people dead on the floor.

Manchester United will now shift their focus to their Champions League outing against Benfica in midweek, where a victory will assure them progress to the last 16 of the competition.
Martial has already made his mark in Europe with a goal and two assists, and there is every chance that he could feature ahead of Rashford following his match-defining performance on a wet afternoon at Old Trafford.
