Manchester United have not strengthened their midfield in almost two years and they are linked with a top quality midfielder in the form of Thiago Alcantara.
According to a claim made by Sport today, the 29-year-old is about to leave Bayern Munich to sign for Manchester United.
The renowned Spanish source have mainly talked about his brother Rafinha Alcantara, who has been playing on loan for Celta Vigo this term and is expected to leave Barcelona on permanent basis this summer.
Sport have reported that like Thiago, Rafinha is also attracted by the idea of moving to the Premier League and could follow his brother to England.
Earlier this month, Sport covered a story and stated that the La Roja star is close to joining newly crowned Premier League champions Liverpool.
So, the latest report suggesting that he is now about to move to the Old Trafford outfit is a bit hard to believe. Nevertheless, we shall see how the transfer saga unfolds in the coming days.
Thiago won every major prize with Barcelona but was not able to start regularly at the Nou Camp. Therefore, he opted to move to the German Bundesliga in 2013.
With Bayern Munich, in seven seasons, he has won all the domestic trophies, including seven league titles and it is now time for him to look for another club.
His current contract with the Bavarians will expire next year and he is valued at around (Sport) 35 million euros (£32million). In your view, should Man United secure the signing of Thiago Alcantara to improve their midfield department?
