Manchester United were heavily linked with Cody Gakpo in the summer transfer window and the Dutch international is still in the lime light.
According to Florian Plettenberg, the Netherlands international could end up leaving PSV Eindhoven in the winter transfer window.
Transfer: Man Utd, above all, want to secure signing of £30.6million midfielder – Report
The renowned journalist has claimed that Gakpo would like to agree a move to a big club like Manchester United, Bayern Munich or Real Madrid.
Plettenberg stated:
“News #Gakpo: Been told that there is no agreement with #LUFC at this stage. Leeds United is highly interested but the player would like to make a step to a bigger club like #MUFC, #MCFC, Real, Barcelona or FC Bayern. A transfer in winter is not excluded”
It must be remembered that in the last transfer window, the 23-year-old star agreed personal terms to join the Red Devils but Ten Hag only did not have enough funds left to complete his signing (The Athletic).
At the weekend, the reigning Dutch Footballer of the Year scored the winning goal for PSV, who are currently two points behind league leader AZ Alkmaar, against Heerenveen.
This term, so far, in all competitions, Gakpo has directly contributed in 23 goals (13 goals and 10 assists) already in just 16 appearances for the Eredivisie club.
For the Oranje, the youngster made his debut last year and so far, in 6 starts, he has scored 3 goals and provided 2 assists.
The 9-capped international was absolutely brilliant in the latest round of Nations League fixtures and he is expected to be a key player for Van Gaal at the World Cup.
As far as the asking price is concerned, last month, journalist, Jacque Talbot, revealed that PSV would demand a fee of £40million to sell the prized asset.
