Manchester United had one of the worst defensive records in the Premier League last term and must improve the backline in the summer.
According to The Guardian, Erik ten Hag wants the Red Devils to sign Jurrien Timber from Ajax, who is valued at around £43million.
Transfer: Report – Man United ready to agree £20.5million a year deal to secure signing
The news source have reported that the 20-year-old central defender is eager to secure a move to Man United to reunite with the Dutch manager.
Timber was a key member of the Eredivisie side that won the league last season. Out of 34 games, Ajax kept 22 clean sheets and conceded just 19 goals.
On the other hand, the Old Trafford outfit conceded 57 goals in the Premier League and managed to keep just 8 clean sheets.
Unfortunately, United were not able to form a single solid central defensive partnership and our leader/captain, Harry Maguire, was arguably the worst player in the last campaign. Therefore, the department must be reinforced for the next season.
Timber is a versatile talent who can effectively play in the right-back role as well. Apart from being solid in the defense, he was productive in the attacking third as well. He directly contributed in 5 goals in 29 league starts.
The youngster made his senior national debut back in June last year and thus far, he has made 6 appearances for the Oranje.
In your view, is Jurrien Timber good enough to strengthen the backline at Old Trafford?
