Manchester United have to improve their midfield department this summer and they are finding it hard to convince Frenkie de Jong, who wants to play in the Champions League.
If reports in the media are anything to go by then the Red Devils are also interested in signing Portuguese international and Sporting CP star, Matheus Nunes.
Transfer: Man United best positioned to seal £68million signing – Bid awaited – Report
According to a story covered by O Jogo (press image provided below), it is likely that the 23-year-old would leave the Lions to move to the Premier League this summer and he could end up securing a move to Man United.
The famous news source have mentioned that Nunes’ current deal with the Liga Nos side has a release clause of 60 million euros (£50million) and he will only be allowed to leave if an offer close to that figure is made.
It is stated that the likes of Man Utd, Man City and Wolves are serious about hiring the services of the Seleccao midfielder.
Leonel Pontes has claimed that the 7-capped international is a quality player who can adapt quickly. The current coach of Sporting de Covilha stated:
“He is not ready for Premier League level, but the faster it is the better. He will adapt quickly taking into account the technical and tactical quality he has.”
Nunes can effectively play in the central/defensive midfield and was a key part of the Sporting CP squad that won the Primeira Liga title in the 2020-21 season.
In the recently concluded campaign, the youngster featured in 50 games in all competitions and directly contributed in 9 goals (4 goals and 5 assists).
In your view, should Man Utd splash £50million to sign Matheus Nunes?
