Manchester United are looking to sign a central defender and reports suggest that a top star is interested in signing for the Old Trafford outfit.
According to Manchester Evening News, Pau Torres is interested in moving to the Red Devils, who are considering making a move to hire his services in the summer transfer window.
Transfer: Report – Man United told £60million would get signing done – Face competition
MEN claim that Solskjaer’s priority is to lure a center back in the next transfer window and Pau being a left footed CB could be the perfect man to partner skipper Harry Maguire at Old Trafford.
It is further mentioned that the 24-year-old star has got a release clause of 60 million euros in his contract but Villareal would be willing to consider player plus cash offers in case suitors cannot meet the valuation.
However, as per reports in Spain, the release clause is different. Earlier this month, La Razon revealed that the La Roja defender, who will be out of contract in 2024, has got a release clause of 65 million euros (£56million).
The Spanish source even mentioned that due to such big a clause, Real Madrid have distanced themselves from signing the 7-capped international, who is wanted by Man Utd.
This season, the 6 ft 3 defender has featured in 32 games for the Yellow Submarine thus far, helped them keep 9 clean sheets and scored 3 goals as well. Due to a muscle concern, he has missed the last few games for Villareal and will not be taking part in the WC qualifiers for Spain.
Back in 2016, Man Utd signed Ivorian international Eric Bailly from the El Madrigal outfit and in December 2020, there was even talk of sending the African star back to the La Liga side in order to lure Torres (Team Talk). We shall see how the transfer saga unfolds in the coming months. For the latest updates, watch this space.
