However, the Old Trafford outfit are not prepared to meet the high demands of the Toffees.
As per GMS, Man Utd are willing to offer a fee of £45m-£50m to hire the services of Branthwaite from the Goodison Park side.
According to a recent story published by Manchester Evening News, the Merseysiders will likely hold out for a mammoth fee of £75million to offload their prized asset.
The 21-year-old center back still has three years left on his contract with Everton and he takes home wages of around £40,000 a week.
Back in 2019, United splashed a fee of £80million to sign Harry Maguire, who is currently the second most expensive defender in the history of the game.
Five years on, the England international has failed to live up to the mammoth price tag and was recently left out of the Three Lions squad for the Euros.
Therefore, it is not surprising that the 20-time champions want to avoid securing another expensive signing to reinforce the central defense.
Branthwaite was top class for Everton last term but so was Maguire for Leicester before he moved to Man Utd.
In your view, who should United sign to reinforce the leaky backline this summer?
