Real Madrid star Gareth Bale could potentially push for a Manchester United move this summer, should he fail to earn regular playing time under Zinedine Zidane next season. The Wales international managed just 27 appearances for the European champions last term as he struggled with a series of injuries, which counted to a four-month absence.
According to Don Balon, the Welshman is confident of getting back to his old self with regular playing time, but he could be forced to consider his future, should it not be the case during the current month. Los Blancos are due to face off against Manchester United in the European Super Cup on Tuesday after which they take on Barcelona in a two-legged Spanish Super Cup tie, and Bale will expect to feature in both games despite hobbling off from training on Tuesday.
Bale was ignored in place of Isco in the Champions League final against Juventus last season, and he could potentially face a similar situation next week with Marco Asensio looking to take advantage of any fitness issues for the former Tottenham Hotspur man. United have placed emphasis on recruiting Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic this summer, but a recent report has opened up the possibility of signing Bale, provided the player publicly states his desire to leave the Bernabeu.
Mourinho has already stressed that he would not splash the cash on his summer recruits, and any deal for the Welshman would depend on Real Madrid lowering their £90m valuation whilst seeking to end the recent contentious relationship between both clubs.
