One of the first players that Man Utd were linked with in this transfer window was PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte.
The Uruguayan international is coming off a brilliant Copa America campaign where he was a star for his nation in their run to the semifinals.

PSG head coach Luis Enrique does not rate the 23-year-old and hardly used him in games as a starter last season. The Spaniard who usually knows to pick a good midfielder has signed Joao Neves as a replacement for the Uruguayan.
Ugarte however has a high ceiling. He has been highly regarded since his Sporting CP days. The South American is a classical defensive midfielder who would be the perfect profile to replace someone like Casemiro in the current Man Utd team.
As per El Pais, PSG were expecting around €60m to part ways with the talented Uruguayan. United offered a bid of around £44.6m(€52m) for the player.
It was deemed insufficient by the French club but they have now lowered their expectations, putting Man Utd in the driving seat and the player is now closer to moving to the English side.
One thing that Man Utd have going in their favor is the fact that the player is keen that he only wants a move to Old Trafford this summer.
This put the ball firmly in the Red Devils’ court and they can prolong the negotiations for as long as it takes to get favorable terms.
PSG need to make a sale due to an overbooking of options in midfield right now. The addition of Neves has only compounded the problem. The longer Man Utd play the waiting game, the better their terms are going to be.
That said, there isn’t long left to go in the transfer window and a decision needs to be made soon. Man Utd have made some impressive additions to the squad this summer and Ugarte would be yet another smart signing. Let’s see if the club can get the deal over the line before deadline.
