James Rodriguez Colombia

If reports in the media are anything to go by then super agent Jorge Mendes is prepared to offer his client, James Rodriguez, to Manchester United.

Sport (via Sport Witness) covered a story yesterday and claimed that the Portuguese representative asked the Red Devils if they would be interested in finally signing the Colombian international.

The renowned Spanish source has revealed that in 2017, the Old Trafford club were seriously looking to lure the South American and they even agreed terms of a contract with Mendes. However, in the end, the PL giants failed to agree a fee with Real Madrid, who then opted to loan the attacker to Bayern Munich.

Sport have further added that in the winter transfer window this year, the Los Blancos even offered the 28-year-old star to Man United in exchange for Paul Pogba. The Red Devils were interested in the former Porto star but did not want to lose their record signing.

It will be intriguing to see what will happen in the summer. The £168,000-a-week attacker (Marca) has never been able to hit top form at the Bernabeu because he never really got a fair chance. Why? Because Zidane preferred the likes of Ronaldo, Isco, Bale and even Vazquez over James.

He was a superstar for Porto and Monaco and has always done well for his country. Rodriguez was a key member of the 2014 WC squad that reached the last eight of the competition and he became the first Colombian to win the Golden Boot prize.

As far as this season is concerned, the versatile attacker has dealt with injury concerns and has only made 4 starts in the league. He has not played in the La Liga since October 19, 2019.

Man United do need to improve their offense in the summer. Should they opt to sign James Rodriguez? Is he still good enough to amplify the quality of our squad? Sport claim that Real Madrid would listen to offers below 40 million euros.
