If things do end up going south, then Man Utd will move in to sign a new manager and reports indicate that Ruben Amorim is wanted.

According to Florian Plettenberg, the 20-time English champions have already made contact to inquire about the Portuguese boss, who has done wonders at Sporting CP since joining them in 2020.

The Sky journalist has revealed that for now Man Utd trust Ten Hag, but they want to be ready to secure the signing of Ruben Amorim, if needed.

Plettenberg says that even Manchester City are interested in the Lions coach, who is not actively looking to leave but has a release clause in his contract that will become active next summer.

We know that for foreign clubs, the termination clause is valued at 20 million euros (£17m) and if needed, Man Utd may have to pay the sum to his the services of Amorim.

The 39-year-old has won multiple league titles with Sporting and the defending champions are currently flying high with 8 wins out of 8 in the Liga Nos.

Over the years, Man Utd have mainly used a four at the back formation, however, if they appoint Ruben Amorim, then a switch to his favored three at the back system is likely.
