Frenkie de Jong has been reluctant to leave Barcelona but the latest reports going on in the media suggest that now, he is prepared to accept a move to Manchester United.
Ronald Koeman has praised the 25-year-old star and while discussing his future, the former Nou Camp boss stated (Sport – press image provided below):
Transfer: Man Utd ready to officially attack to steal signing of £280,000 a week star – Report
“The only thing I know is that Frenkie wants to continue at Barça. A couple of days ago he told me that he wanted to continue.”
“What I don’t know is if Barça wants to sell him or needs money, because he is one of the few players for whom he can get a significant sum of money. For me, De Jong is a great player for Barça”.
However, the renowned Catalan news source have reported that the midfielder would welcome the departure from the Blaugrana and is already negotiating with the Red Devils.
It is stated that De Jong is willing to accept Ten Hag’s offer of becoming the leader of the midfield at Old Trafford.
Once again, Sport claim that both the clubs are pressing to complete the operation at the earliest and things are expected to move faster now that the former Ajax man has given the go-ahead to negotiate with the 20-time English champions.
At Ajax, under the guidance of Ten Hag, De Jong and Donny Van de Beek formed a solid midfield partnership and helped the team win the domestic double (2018-19).
Van de Beek has returned from his loan spell with Everton and was all smiles during the first training session under Erik ten Hag.
The Netherlands international may again form a midfield partnership with compatriot, De Jong, if the Barca star does end up securing a move to Man United this summer.
Man utd is laid back in this transfer season. I find this unambitious and unacceptable at the back of an abysmally underwhelming season with so many departures. We need to put football people in our recruitment department not businessmen.
This situation is so boring when are we signing because pre-season training has started
