Manchester United have now tried with two offers to sign Mason Mount but have failed thus far. However, reports indicate the deal is now close.
According to The Athletic, an agreement between Chelsea and Man Utd is edging closer.
Transfer: Man Utd ready ‘important’ offer to ‘close’ signing of £43million star – Report
Initially, the Red Devils moved in with a bid worth £40m for the England international but it was turned down by the Blues.
More recently, the Old Trafford outfit came up with a package of £50million, however, once again, the Stamford Bridge club rejected the offer.
David Ornstein reveals Chelsea have made it known they want around £65m for their prized asset, £60m fixed payment and £5m in bonuses.
In the 2020-21 campaign, Mount directly contributed in 18 goals and played a key role to help the London side win their second European Cup.
In the 2021-22 season, the 24-year-old star found the net 13 times and also provided 16 assists under Tuchel, who managed the Blues to UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup triumphs.
Mount mainly plays in the CAM role but at Old Trafford, the position is occupied by Bruno Fernandes, who is irreplaceable in the squad.
The Three Lions star can also play in the central midfield and could replace veteran, Eriksen, to partner Casemiro in the center of the park.
Man Utd should act swiftly to reinforce the squad for next season but should they offer £65m for a player who will be out of contract next year?
