After becoming Manchester United’s head coach last November, Ruben Amorim has managed to guide his team to reach the Europa League semi-final without losing a game.
However, things have been awful under him in the Premier League, losing 11 out of 22 games. So, they are currently languishing 14th in the table with 38 points from 33 games.
News – Man Utd ready to secure signing of £50million playmaker – Report
Some fans have already raised questions about whether he is the right man for United to lead forward. But the majority believe the squad isn’t good enough to compete at the highest level.
Therefore, Man Utd are said to be willing to back Amorim in the summer window to help him implement his style.
The Daily Mail report that the Red Devils are keen on signing Wolverhampton Wanderers star, Matheus Cunha, to bolster the attack and have already opened talks over this deal.
Newcastle United are also in this race, but Man Utd have managed to persuade the forward to join and are near to reaching an agreement with him over the personal terms.
United will have to trigger Cunha’s £62.5m release clause to get the deal done and are hopeful that they will be able to agree terms with Vitor Pereira’s side by next month. Hence, the deal is very close.
The Brazilian has been the brightest spark for Wolves, although they have endured a difficult campaign this season, scoring sixteen goals and notching up four assists in all competitions. He even displayed impressive performances in both league games against the Old Trafford club.
Rasmus Hojlund has continued to struggle this season and was wasteful in front of the goal last weekend vs Wolves, where Cunha shone.
Therefore, signing a new attacker would be the right decision, and a Premier League proven player like the South American would be an ideal acquisition. What do you think?
