Manchester United are set to suffer a major transfer blow with their prime defensive target close to moving elsewhere.
Yesterday, we covered a story (via Gazzetta) claiming the Red Devils have offered more than the asking price to sign Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich.

According to Alfredo Pedulla, the French international is now closing in to sign for Inter Milan in the summer transfer window.
The Italian journalist has revealed Pavard has reached a total agreement with the Nerazzurri to complete his move before deadline.
As far as the transfer fee is concerned, Pedulla states the rumors of a 40 million euros asking price are completely false.
The Serie A giants have offered a total package of 30 million euros (£26million) inclusive of add-ons and Bayern could accept the bid knowing that the player has already agreed terms to move to Italy.
Inter Milan hope are confident they will deliver Pavard to manager, Simone Inzaghi, and hope to conclude the deal by tomorrow.
The 27-year-old, who won the World Cup with France in 2018 and won every single major trophy with the Bavarians, has the quality and the experience to reinforce any backline in the world.
His ability to effectively play in the right back and the central defensive positions would solve the current conundrum at the back at Old Trafford.
However, it seems Pavard will eventually end up sealing a move to the San Siro before the closure of the transfer window.
In your opinion, who should Erik ten Hag sign to strengthen the Man Utd defense this summer?
It was expected. Stick to Maguire, fans are getting used to the fact that Manchester is there to participate and NOT to compete.
