Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Manchester United were linked with Croatian international Mario Mandzukic in the summer but the center forward eventually stayed with Juventus.

If the latest reports in the media are anything to go by then the 33-year-old is once again linked with a move away from The Old Lady.

According to TuttoSport, the Italian champions are interested in signing Pogba and for that, they are prepared to offer the likes of Mandzukic and Emre Can to the Old Trafford club. Our focus is on the veteran striker.

The renowned Italian source have claimed that Manchester United have a verbal agreement with Mandzukic’s entourage to secure his signing.

Transfer: Man Utd consider summer move to sign star with £135million release clause

Mandzukic is a decorated star, who has won all the major prizes in Croatia, Germany and Italy. Moreover, he has been a key member of the Croatian national team in the past decade. The former Bundesliga goal-scorer was fantastic in the FIFA World Cup last year and helped Croatia reached the final of the competition.

In the last campaign, he featured in 33 games in all competitions for Juve, scored 10 goals and provided 7 assists. However, this season, he has not featured in even a single game under new boss, Maurizio Sarri. Not to forget, the former Bayern Munich man is not even part of Juventus’ Champions League squad.

Man United do lack quality, depth and experience in their strike-force after letting Sanchez and Lukaku leave in the summer and therefore, a proven quality striker should be lured in January.

Mandzukic has got the experience to improve Man United and he is the short term fix that Solskjaer needs for at least this campaign. Last month, The Mail reported that the £11million-rated star is keen on moving to Old Trafford in January.

Former Man United forward, Dimitar Berbatov has explained why the club should sign Mandzukic. The Bulgarian claimed (Betfair via Mirror Sport).

“They (Man United) have the talent in the young players but at the same time you need someone like Mario Mandzukic.”

“I think he is a really good football player and he hasn’t played before in England but I hope if he comes he can straight away get into the rhythm of the Premier League.”

In your opinion, is Mandzukic good enough to improve Man United?

  1. United make 180m profit every year ffp is over 3 years last window we spent 70m what’s stopping us spending 600m and sorting this sh** out..what aren’t they telling us

  2. Good enough to improve our front line possibly but this is a very short term move to a long term problem. This guy is 33/34 and nearing the end of his career. We need younger hungrier players to fit in with the squad long term.

  3. Funny isn’t it how we keep going for these thirty something players to bail us out.
We are becoming the MLS team of the premier league
