Ronald Araujo remains heavily linked with Manchester United and the latest reports going on in the Spanish media are interesting.

More recently, Spanish source, Nacional, have revealed that Joan Laporta, is ready to sell the Uruguayan international to improve the finances of the club.

In such a scenario, the Catalan media outlet claim Man Utd and Bayern Munich are prepared to negotiate with the Barca president to sign Araujo.

The 24-year-old central defender has been brilliant for the Blaugrana under the management of Xavi but Laporta is prepared to sacrifice him.

It is stated that the Nou Camp outfit previously valued him at 100 million euros but now, they have lowered the asking price to 80 million euros (£68.4million) to make him more affordable for United and the Bavarians.

The German champions want to offload Dutch international, Matthijs de Ligt, and replace him with Ronald Araujo at the Allianz Arena.

De Ligt captained the Ajax team under Erik ten Hag and the report indicate that the Man Utd manager could move to bring the Netherlands star to Old Trafford.

Have your say – Is Araujo a better option than De Ligt? Who should Man Utd sign to strengthen the central defense?
