Manchester United offloaded Antony and Rashford on loan in the winter transfer window and they were also willing to sell Garnacho to Napoli.

However, in the end, the move collapsed for multiple reasons that have been highlighted in the Italian media.

Napoli sporting director, Giovanni Manna, has confirmed that the Argentine international demanded a mammoth salary to move to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium outfit.

At Old Trafford, the South American attacker takes home a salary of around £50,000 a week.

As per Corriere dello Sport, Garnacho wanted to agree a deal worth gross £160,000 a week (10 million euros a season) to leave Manchester United for Napoli.

Antonio Conte was pushing to lure the 20-year-old to replace Kvaratskhelia but the salary demands were ‘excessive’. Moreover, Napoli did not meet the asking fee set by the Red Devils.

Having already offloaded two attacking players this summer, it may turn out to be a blessing in disguise that United failed to sell Garnacho.

The youngster has already made over 100 appearances for the club and has potential to grow and become an asset in the years to come.

However, Ruben Amorim needs results to improve immediately. He has started poorly, losing 5 of his 7 home games in the Premier League and if things continue to go south, then he may see the exit door at the end of the campaign.

Despite the transfer speculations, Garnacho has regularly featured for the Portuguese boss and he needs to step up big time.
