If reports in the media are anything to go by then Manchester United are close to securing their first signing of the summer.
According to The Guardian, the Red Devils have already agreed a fee with Ajax to sign Donny van de Beek.
Transfer: Man United came close, told £27million+ would get signing done
As per Sky Sports, the deal worth 44 million euros is expected to be officially completed in the next few days. The question is, how would Man United line up with the Dutch international?
The 23-year-old midfielder directly contributed in over 20 goals in the last campaign while mainly playing as a central attacking midfielder. Under Ten Hag, the £30,000-a-week star (The Mail) mostly played in the No.10 role behind the main center forward.
However, at Old Trafford, it is highly unlikely that he will play in the hole behind Anthony Martial. Why? Because we have Bruno Fernandes.
The Portuguese international has been world class since joining us in the winter transfer window and he is irreplaceable in Solskjaer’s 4-2-3-1 setup.
The good thing is that Van de Beek can also effectively feature in the central midfield. As per Transfermarkt, thus far in his career, the 9-capped international has played more games in the CM role than in any other position. Not just that, he can be deployed as a defensive midfielder as well.
So, it will not come as any surprise if Ole opts to utilize the versatile star in the center of the park for Man Utd and he could start with our record signing Paul Pogba.
It must be remembered that we also have midfielders like Fred, McTominay and Matic around, so, it will be intriguing to see if Solskjaer will opt to get the Netherlands star straight into the starting XI.
