Man United came close, told £27million+ would get signing done

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Manchester United have been linked with Benoit Badiashile recently and the latest reports are intriguing.

According to AS, Man United moved with an offer of 25 million euros to sign the central defender but the bid was rejected by Monaco.

The renowned Spanish news source have mentioned that the French club want to keep the 19-year-old starlet for another season unless they receive an offer worth 30 million euros plus add-ons (£27million+).

So if the reports are to be believed then Man United came close to the defender’s valuation by offering 25 million euros and need to add over 5 million euros to their initial bid to get his signing done.

As compared to the 2018-19 season, the Red Devils were very solid at the back in the last campaign.

We conceded 54 goals in the Premier League in 2018-19 and only let in 36 goals in the 2019-20 league season. So, the defensive signings of Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka did strengthen Solskjaer’s defense.

The record at the back would have been even better if our first choice shot stopper, David De Gea, was not so inconsistent in the goal.

As far as the central defense is concerned, United have players like Maguire, Lindelof, Bailly, Jones, Smalling and Tuanzebe around. So, the area is overcrowded and if Ole is really looking to lure another center back then he should sign an upgrade to the current crop.

Benoit Badshiale surely does not look like an upgrade. He featured in just 16 Ligue 1 games for Monaco and was mostly a bench warmer in the second half of the last campaign.

In your view, should Man United splash £27million+ to sign the French defender?
