Man Utd are closing in on their fifth transfer of the summer but much like the Noussair Mazraoui deal, this arrival is also directly linked with a departure despite this not being a direct swap deal. We covered a story yesterday that the Red Devils were closing in on selling Scott McTominay to Napoli.
The Red Devils are in a position to sacrifice an academy graduate of their own. McTominay has been a great servant for the club, often resorting to a bench role and answering the call of Erik ten Hag with late goals to transform games.

Now, his exit could pave for the Red Devils to wrap up a new signing. As per El Pais [Image attached], Man Utd have ‘practically’ completed the deal to sign PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte with only the final details left to be sorted.
In the coming hours, Ugarte might leave PSG to head to Man Utd with both clubs having practically closed the deal. The 23-year-old Uruguayan would be a great addition to Erik ten Hag’s squad and would be an upgrade on Scott McTominay.
Ugarte showed the quality he has in the recently concluded Copa America campaign for Marcelo Bielsa’s team. Despite many high-profile stars in the squad that reached the semifinals, it was the 23-year-old who shone brightest.
For a long time, it looked like Man Utd would have to replace Casemiro this summer but the Brazilian veteran has ended up staying and looking solid in these first few games. It looks like he has one more season at least left in him at the top most level.
Despite this, signing Ugarte now is a positive thing because the Uruguayan could benefit from Casemiro’s tutelage at Man Utd and the Brazilian can also help him ease into the Premier League.
This is a very smart piece of business that could benefit United for years to come and let’s hope it gets over the line as soon as possible.
