Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera could be out for weeks after picking up a thigh injury, reports The Sun. The Spanish international is likely to miss Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Huddersfield as a result.
Herrera has made just eight Premier League starts this season, falling behind Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic in the pecking order. The 28-year-old has an uncertain future too, having been linked with a move to AC Milan.
If the former Athletic Bilbao midfielder is out for the rest of the month with his thigh injury, he will miss important games in the FA Cup against Huddersfield, Champions League against Sevilla and Premier League against Chelsea.
Herrera would likely have featured against Town in the cup, but unless he makes a speedy recovery he’s likely to be on the sidelines. The 28-year-old hasn’t had much game time this season and this injury is another setback. The FA Cup and EFL Cup were competitions Jose Mourinho played him in.
His long-term future at Old Trafford is uncertain as his contract is up in less than 18 months. United might consider moving him on if a £30m bid is put to them at the end of the season.
